The Transformation Model
The Transformation model is one in which the LEA replaces the principal, implements a meticulous staff evaluation and development system, institutes comprehensive instructional reform, increases learning time and applies community-oriented school strategies, and provides greater operational flexibility and support for the school.
- The principal who led the school prior to the commencement of the transformation model is replaced.
- Teachers and principal evaluations are linked to student performance.
- Rewards leaders, teachers, and staff who improve student achievement and graduation rates. This may include financial incentives, opportunities for advancement, and flexible work conditions. Underperforming staff can be removed.
- Provides high-quality professional development.
- Uses data to implement research-based and differentiated instruction.
- Allows for increased learning time.
- Provides increased family and community engagement.
- Promotes operational flexibility in areas such as staffing, calendar time, and budgeting.
