Testing

Exam Dates and Registration Info
The GED Exam is offered at various locations throughout Connecticut on either 2 Saturdays or 3 weeknights per month. The exam is offered at Central High School in Bridgeport 3 weeknights per month. Applicants must register at least one month prior to the desired test date. Applicants must register in person and are required to show a current government photo I.D. such as a driver’s license or passport to the registrar. Fees
There is a non-refundable $13 fee for applicants 21 years of age and older. For Veterans and applicants under 21 years of age, there is no fee. Fees must be paid at time of registration. If registering and taking the exam at Central High School, this fee can be paid in cash or by money order or bank check made payable to Bridgeport Adult Education/GED. No personal checks will be accepted.

About the GED Exam
The GED Exam is a battery of five (5) comprehensive tests designed to measure the major generalizations, ideas, and intellectual skills that are the outcome of four years of formal high school study. The entire battery of tests takes approximately 7 hours and 15 minutes to complete. The 5 sections of the test are: Language Arts—Writing Skills; Social Studies; Science; Language Arts - Reading; and Mathematics. Applicants must earn an overall score of 2250
points and a least 410 points on each section.
