Elective Class Descriptions

African American Literature

African American writers have had a long, sometimes painful, journey to where they stand now. This course will look at some of the best African American writers, from the humble roots of African Folktales to the burst of creative energy in the Harlem Renaissance and everything in between. While some of the literature can be graphic, the lessons learned from each story will stay with you long after this class.
