National External Diploma Program (NEDP)

Literacy Volunteers of Southeastern Fairfield County, a division of FSW, and the Mercy Learning Center are excited to offer area residents a new educational opportunity to obtain their high school diploma. These two organizations are now offering the National External Diploma Program (NEDP). This assessment program awards a high school diploma to adults who have acquired high school-level ability through life experience. This is a portfolio assessment program, that offers no classroom instruction. Candidates work independently
while maintaining weekly appointments with their EDP advisor/assessor.

The goal and the force in this new initiative is to help those candidates who need a secondary school diploma, but choose not to go through the traditional credit diploma classes or the GED program. Please call Paula Reed or Judy Klein of Literacy Volunteers at (203) 338-9007 or Jane Ferreira of the Mercy Learning Center at (203)-334-6699 to see if you are a qualified candidate for this new educational opportunity. All diplomas are issued by the Bridgeport Board of Education’s Adult Education Department.
